Sheldon’s CFL Power Rankings

  1. Montreal Alouettes (Last Rank: 1)
The Als went into Toronto for a battle of the unbeaten and emerged the only perfect team remaining in the East. The score flattered the Argos as they added a TD in garbage time. Pretty dominant win keeps them at the top of the rankings. Montreal hosts Calgary on Saturday.

  2. Saskatchewan Roughriders (Last Rank: 2)
Currently in first place in the West but got some very unfortunate news that starting QB Trevor Harris has been added to the 6-game injured list with a “moderate sprain” in his right knee. The Riders are coming off the bye and now Shea Patterson will get his first start in the CFL on Thursday Night Football, when the Argos travel to Mosaic.

  3. BC Lions (Last Rank: 3)
BC was able to hold off the Elks as they were able to walk away with a Sean Whyte walk-off field goal. The offensive line was able to protect Vernon Adams, but it was not a dominating win against a
team that was on a short week who had to incur a lot of travel to get to Vancouver. The Lions head to Hamilton on Sunday to face the winless Ticats.

  4. Toronto (Last Rank: 4)
The Argos had a tough time hosting the best team in the league, but luckily, they will be facing a team who does not have their starting QB on Thursday. The Argos were 0/3 in the redzone last week and will need to improve on that.

  5. Calgary (Last Rank: 5)
Calgary beat the worst team in the league, after their starting QB was injured and missed the second half and they needed to do it in OT. Jake Maier did not have a good game and was very inaccurate on the deep balls. They will need to put forth a better effort on Saturday as they fly to Montreal to play the undefeated reigning champions.

  6. Ottawa REDBLACKS (Last Rank: 7)
The REDBLACKS were able to answer a late game TD drive orchestrated by Bo Levi Mitchell as the Ticats looked like they might get their first win of the season. Unfortunately for them, the
REDBLACKS had time on the clock and were quickly able to get into range for Lewis Ward to have an opportunity to make the third walk off winning FG of the week. Ottawa now heads to face another winless team in Winnipeg on Friday Night Football.

  7. Edmonton Elks (Last Rank: 6)
Another loss, by a single score and the Elks are heading on the bye week. Edmonton is on the cusp of getting that first win of the season, but will the bye bring any major changes?

  8. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Last Rank: 8)
Hamilton fans were ready to breathe a slight sigh of relief when Bo Levi Mitchell found Shemar Bridges in the endzone with 28 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, they missed the two-point convert and were only up by 1 point. After giving up a big return on a squib kick, Ottawa quickly got in range of Lewis Ward to win the game as time expired. They now travel cross country to face the BC Lions in the Sunday nighter.

  9. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Last Rank: 9)
Winnipeg lost Zach Collaros to injury at half time and got only twenty- six yards on the ground from their star RB Brady Oliveira. The silver lining is that they kept it close and forced overtime with Chris Streveler in there, but it would have been a blow out if Calgary didn’t also play poorly. They host Ottawa on Friday and will look to avoid the REDBLACKS beating them for the second time this season.
